Terms of Service

1. Booking

Reservations are confirmed only after payment authorization and receipt of a confirmation email/record.

Client must be at least 18 years old or have a guardian present.
Booking time includes setup and teardown; overtime is billed in 30-minute increments.
We may request government-issued ID at check-in for security verification.
Capacity limits apply; inform us of expected headcount in advance.

2. Payments

Rates are posted at the time of booking and are subject to applicable Canadian taxes.

We accept major cards and e-transfers; full payment is due prior to entry unless otherwise agreed.
Deposits (if any) are non-transferable and applied against the final invoice.
Unpaid balances accrue 1.5% monthly interest (18% annually) after 30 days.
Chargebacks without prior notice may result in account suspension.

3. Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand plans change. The policy below balances fairness with studio availability.

72+ hours before start: full refund or 1 free reschedule within 60 days.
24–72 hours: 50% refund or reschedule with a 20% fee.
Less than 24 hours or no-show: non-refundable.
Weather or force majeure: credit valid for 90 days at our discretion.

4. Acceptable Use

Use the space responsibly and lawfully. The following are strictly prohibited.

Illegal activities or content violating Canadian law.
Open flames, smoking, haze/fog machines without prior written approval.
Animals except certified service animals with notice.
Excessive noise, glitter, confetti, paint, or substances difficult to clean.

5. Studio Rental Conditions

Help us keep the studio safe and ready for all clients.

Arrive and depart on time; return all furniture and gear to original positions.
Protect floors and walls; use provided mats, clamps, and tapes only.
Do not affix anything to ceilings or sprinkler systems.
Keep emergency exits and corridors unobstructed at all times.

6. Equipment Use

Some equipment may require an operator; ask us if unsure.

Report any defects before use; otherwise, items are deemed delivered in good condition.
Only qualified persons may operate electrical or rigging systems.
Batteries and consumables may incur additional charges.
Client is responsible for safe transportation of any off-site rentals.

7. Loss, Damage, and Cleaning

You are responsible for the cost of repair, replacement, and additional cleaning if required.

Damage must be reported immediately; security deposit may be applied.
Standard cleaning is included; excessive mess incurs a cleaning fee.
We recommend appropriate production insurance for equipment and liability.

8. Privacy and Cookies

We respect your privacy. We use functional cookies for security and preferences, and with your consent, analytics cookies for service improvement.

Data is processed in Canada; limited third-party processors may be engaged under contract.
You can withdraw cookie consent at any time via Cookie Settings.
We do not sell personal information.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, North News Studios is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or lost profits, arising from the use of the studio or equipment.

Total liability, if any, is limited to amounts paid for the booking giving rise to the claim.
Client agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims by participants or invitees.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
